OneTon District Scout Centenary Camp was held at Hall Place, Leigh in May over the Whitsun bank holiday, 500+ campers pitched their tents over a weekend that saw gales and heavy rain try to disrupt proceedings. It failed, despite the weather turning for the worse on Saturday evening the program of events kept going. Our Scouts, Cubs and Beavers enjoyed many activities including climbing, water sports, micro light flying, Para-ascending, archery, crafts, games etc. An open day on Sunday saw the camp visitors swell in numbers as family and friends joined us for a full day of activities. The evening was concluded by a spectacular firework display organised by Peter Penn on behalf of Leigh Scouts.
I would like to thank all the organisers of this event especially our local leaders and parents who braved the weather to provide an unforgettable weekend for our Scouts here at Leigh.

Welcome Home Festival

Welcome Home
Diocesan Children’s Festival
9th June 2007-06-19 Aylesford Priory
14 adults and children from St. Mary’s, Leigh attended the festival on a wonderful sunny day at the Priory.
The day began at 10am with an act of worship and official opening by the Bishop of Tonbridge. The children were then invited to join in the activities which included puppets, arts & crafts, sports, prayer labyrinth, music workshop, drama, mini gym, bouncy castle and much more besides. There was a final act of worship and closing ceremony at 3.30pm before we all went home exhausted.
What a wonderful opportunity for Christians from all walks of life in the diocese to come together for fun, fellowship and to give thanks to God in such beautiful surroundings. Some of you may remember that we held our Parish Weekend there a couple of years ago.
Many thanks to Rochester Board of Education for putting this event on, especially Tiffany Allen.
